I'm reminded of Jordan Peterson (who I have so many disagreements with I'm almost wary to invoke him). For all the disagreements, his original instinct that we need some people start building cultural lenses, metanarratives, new systems of meaning for life feels on point.
Indy, very useful observation, what's the particular thing to read from Peterson?, there is so little of this thinking. As you and I have observed in several conversations, people are not inclined to talk about something (culture) that is not visible to them! Great to see someone, especially of his standing, weighing in!
It was from a talk he gave, I'll see if I can find it on youtube. The stuff I've read of his seems less big picture - I guess advice to individuals sells better! ;-)
